Based on Psalm 133 and Isaiah 2:1-4, Ruth Duck's text reminds of the pleasure that comes “when people live as one. When peace and justice light the way the will of God is done”.
The voices open the ABACA structure in unison before expanding to essentially homorhythmic parts for the remainder. Here is a piece for practicing wide intervals: the sixth, seventh, and octave are all part of the refrain melody, and appear in the harmony as well. The sprightly accompaniment playfully weaves together two stanzas of mountain heights and tumbling walls before settling into static harmonies underlaying the quiet joy blooming “when people work for peace.”

Comments: Appealing to the ear and voice and mind, challenging in accessible ways. Middle school singers and older. The SAB version adds to the flexibility - including adults who would find this engaging. Needs a strong accompanist.
